Introduction
What LokiPay is and how MoMo payments get verified.
LokiPay verifies Mobile Money payments automatically, on your own server. A phone holding your MoMo SIM forwards every MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash and AirtelTigo Money payment SMS to your LokiPay server. LokiPay reads the amount, payer and Transaction ID, matches it to the payment you were expecting, and tells your app with a signed webhook — usually within seconds of the customer paying.
Why LokiPay#
- No screenshots, no manual checks. The MoMo SMS from the network is the proof. The Transaction ID in it is the source of truth, and each Transaction ID can verify exactly one payment.
- No payment gateway fees. Customers send MoMo directly to your number or merchant ID, the way they already do.
- Your server, your data. LokiPay is a single-tenant deployment — one installation per business, on infrastructure you control. We set it up for you.
- Works with or without code. Share payment links on WhatsApp or print a QR code, or create payments from your backend with the API and send customers to hosted checkout.
How a payment is verified#
- You create a payment (from a payment link or the API). LokiPay gives it a short reference such as
4KLP7QMX. - The customer sends the amount by MoMo and types the reference in the MoMo reference field.
- The network sends your MoMo SIM a “payment received” SMS. The LokiPay relay app forwards it, signed with the phone’s own key.
- LokiPay parses the SMS, finds the payment by its reference (or by the Transaction ID the customer submitted), checks the amount, and marks it verified.
- Your app receives a
payment.verifiedwebhook; the customer’s payment page turns green.
Forgot the reference?
Customers who pay without the reference — or whose SMS is delayed — tap “I have paid” and enter the Transaction ID from their MoMo confirmation. LokiPay matches it when the SMS arrives. See claims.What you get#
