Relay phone
Permissions & always-on
Keep the relay running 24/7.
Android aggressively stops background apps to save battery. LokiPay uses several layers so payment SMS are never missed:
- Native SMS receiver — Android wakes the app for every incoming SMS, even if it was closed.
- Always-on service — a foreground service with a quiet, persistent “Relaying MoMo SMS” notification and a heartbeat every 60 s.
- Durable queue — SMS are stored on the phone first and deleted only after the server confirms them.
- Inbox backfill — every 15 minutes the app re-scans recent SMS from MoMo senders and uploads anything missed (the server ignores duplicates).
- Restart on boot and a backstop alarm if the service is killed.
Recommended phone settings#
- App → Settings → Always-on: on.
- Android Settings → Apps → LokiPay → Battery → Unrestricted (the app links you there from “Fix these”).
- Keep the phone on charge and connected (Wi-Fi or mobile data).
- On Xiaomi, Oppo, Tecno, Infinix and similar phones, also allow Autostart for LokiPay and lock it in the recent-apps screen.
The dashboard warns you within 3 minutes if a phone stops checking in (Relay phones and the notifications bell), and the phone itself shows an “offline” alert after 5 minutes without the server.
